Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair




REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Hoist and Additional Support Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the rear wheel.
3. Remove the fascia splash shield.
4. Disconnect the purge and vapor pipes from the EVAP canister.
5. Remove the bolt retaining the canister to the bracket.
6. Remove the canister.

IMPORTANT: The hose clamp is a pinch type.

7. Loosen the fresh air hose clamp and remove it from the EVAP canister.
8. Remove the EVAP vent valve bracket retaining screw from the EVAP canister and remove the EVAP vent valve..


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The hose clamp is a pinch type.

1. Connect the fresh air hose to the EVAP canister and secure the hose clamp.
2. Snap the EVAP vent valve assembly onto the EVAP canister.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the EVAP vent valve bracket retaining bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the EVAP vent valve retaining bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

4. Install the canister.
5. Tighten the EVAP canister retaining bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the EVAP canister retaining bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

6. Connect the purge and vapor pipes to the canister. Make sure the connections are correct.
7. Install the splash shield.
8. Install the rear wheel.
9. Lower the vehicle.
