Secondary AIR Injection Pump Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Raise the vehicle.

2. NOTE: Removal of the left headlamp may aid in access.
Remove the retaining screws from the front portion of the splash shield in the left front wheel well.

3. Lower the splash shield far enough to gain access to the secondary air injection (AIR) assembly.
4. Loosen and lower the clamp on the AIR exhaust pipe (4) at the AIR pump (3).
5. Disconnect the AIR exhaust pipe from the AIR pump.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the AIR pump.
7. Remove the 3 AIR pump mounting bolts (2).
8. Unclip the pump intake hose (1) from the vehicle.
9. Remove the AIR pump and bracket as an assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Attach the AIR pump and bracket assembly (3) to the frame rail using the 3 attaching bolts (2)

Tighten
Tighten the attaching bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in)

2. Connect the AIR pump electrical connector.
3. Re-attach the pump intake hose (1) to the vehicle.
4. Attach the AIR exhaust pipe (4) to the AIR pump outlet port.
5. Place the pinch clamp around the AIR pump outlet port and exhaust hose connection.
6. Raise the wheel well splash shield into position.
7. Install the screws retaining the wheel well splash shield.
8. Lower the vehicle.
