Water Pump Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Fitting Cooling System.
2. Remove the surge tank outlet hose. Refer to Surge Tank Hose Replacement (inlet) or Surge Tank Hose Replacement (Outlet).
3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
5. Remove the idler pulley bolt.
6. Remove the idler pulley.
7. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
8. Remove the water pump pulley.
9. Remove the long water pump bolts (1).
10. Remove the short water pump bolts (1).
11. Remove the water pump.
12. Remove the water pump gasket.
13. Clean and inspect the water pump mating surfaces.
Clean and inspect the water pump, if necessary. Refer to Water Pump Clean and inspect.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the water pump gasket.
2. Install the water pump.
3. Loosely install the long water pump bolts.
4. Loosely install the short water pump bolts.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the water pump bolts.
Tighten the water pump bolts to 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.).
6. Install the water pump pulley.
7. Loosely install the water pump pulley bolts.
8. Install the idler pulley.
9. Install the idler pulley bolt.
Tighten the idler pulley bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
11. Install the surge tank outlet hose. Refer to Surge Tank Hose Replacement (inlet) or Surge Tank Hose Replacement (Outlet).
12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
13. Inspect for leaks.
