80. Oil Pan Installation
^ Tools Required- J29142 Oil Filter Wrench
1. Install the oil level switch.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the oil level switch bolt.
Tighten the oil level switch bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
3. Install a new oil filter cartridge.
4. Install the oil filter cap using the J29142.
Tighten the oil filter cap to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Install a new oil pan gasket.
6. Position the oil pan onto the lower crankcase.
7. Loosely install the oil pan bolts.
Important: DO NOT install the brace-to-oil pan bolts.
8. Install the transaxle brace and the two brace-to-cylinder block bolts (1).
Tighten the transaxle brace-to-cylinder block bolts (1) to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
9. Loosely install the transaxle brace-to-oil pan bolts (2).
10. To ensure proper mounting of the transaxle, align the cast boss on the rear of the oil pan so it is flush with the rear face of the cylinder block using a straight edge.
11. Press the forward part of the oil pan against the transaxle brace. Keep the rear bolt boss of the oil pan flush with the rear face of the cylinder block.
Tighten the transaxle brace-to-oil pan bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
12. Keep the rear bolt boss of the oil pan flush with the rear face of the cylinder block and tighten the oil pan bolts.
Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
13. Install the oil pan drain plug and NEW O-ring seal.
Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
