Brake Pedal Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Insulator Replacement - IP (Left) or Insulator Replacement - IP (Right) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
2. Unclip the BCM and position aside.
3. Remove the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Replacement.
4. Remove the cruise control release switch (if equipped). Refer to Cruise Release Switch Adjustment in Cruise Control.
5. Remove the wiring harness clips.
6. Remove the brake pedal pushrod retaining clip at the brake pedal.
7. Remove the brake pedal pushrod and washer.
8. Inspect all parts for evidence of wear. Repair or replace the worn parts as needed.





9. Remove the brake pedal nut and bolt.
10. Remove the brake pedal and bushings.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the brake pedal and bushings.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the brake pedal nut and bolt.
^ Tighten the brake pedal nut and bolt to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the brake pedal washer and pushrod.
4. Install the brake pedal pushrod retaining clip.
5. Install the wiring harness clips.
6. Install the cruise control release switch (if equipped). Refer to Cruise Release Switch Adjustment in Cruise Control.
7. Install the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Replacement.
8. Position and clip the BCM into place.
9. Install the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Insulator Replacement - IP (Left) or Insulator Replacement- IP (Right) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
