Accelerator Controls Cable Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the injector sight shield.
2. Remove the left instrument panel insulator.
3. Remove the accelerator controls cable (5) from the accelerator controls pedal (1).
4. Squeeze the accelerator controls cable cover tangs.
5. Push the accelerator controls cable through the bulkhead.
6. Remove the accelerator controls cable from the retaining clips.
7. Remove the accelerator controls cable (3) from the throttle body lever (1).
8. Remove the accelerator controls cable (3) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Do not route flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts unless flexible components can be securely fastened. This is necessary in order to prevent possible interference and damage to the component.
IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely, without binding, between full closed and wide open throttle.
1. Install the accelerator controls cable through the bulkhead.
2. Install the snap retainer through the bulkhead.
3. Install the accelerator controls cable (5) through the slot in the accelerator controls pedal lever (1).
4. Seat the snap retainer in the accelerator controls pedal lever.
5. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator controls pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator controls pedal.
6. Install the accelerator controls cable (3) to the throttle body lever (1).
7. Install the accelerator controls cable (3) to the accelerator controls cable bracket (2).
8. Install the accelerator controls cable into the retaining clips.
9. Install the left instrument panel insulator.
10. Install the injector sight shield.
