Throttle Body Assembly Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





NOTE: Do Not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.




2. Drain the radiator coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (3.5L V6 LX5).
3. Remove the air cleaner intake duct (3).




4. Remove the MAF sensor electrical connector (3) from the MAF sensor (4).
5. Remove the IAT sensor electrical connector (2) from the IAT sensor (1).




6. Remove the IAC valve sensor electrical connector (4) to the IAC valve (1).
7. Remove the TP sensor electrical connector (3) to the TP sensor (2).




8. Remove the accelerator control cable (3) from the throttle body lever (1).
9. Remove the cruise control cable from the throttle body lever.




10. Remove the vacuum hose (1) from the fuel pressure regulator (2).




11. Remove the PCV valve hose (1).
12. Remove the the throttle body vacuum port hose (2).




13. Remove the throttle body coolant hoses.
14. Remove the accelerator controls cable bracket.
15. Remove the nuts and bolts holding the throttle body to the intake manifold (1) using a wrench on the manifold side of the inserts to prevent the inserts from rotating in the manifold casting.
16. Remove the throttle body assembly (3).
17. Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold (1) and the throttle body assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle.

1. Install the new gasket (2), and new inserts and studs if necessary.
2. Install the throttle body assembly (3).
3. Finger start the top nut.
4. Install the the accelerator controls bracket (4).
5. Finger start the accelerator controls bracket and remaining throttle body retaining nuts and bolts.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Caution and Notices.

Tighten
Tighten the retaining nuts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
Tighten the retaining bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

6. Install the throttle body coolant hoses.




7. Install the the throttle body vacuum port hose (2).
8. Install the PCV valve hose (1).




9. Install the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose (1) to the fuel pressure regulator (1).




10. Install the accelerator controls cable (3) to the throttle body lever (1).
11. Install the cruise control cable (1) to the throttle body lever.




12. Install the IAC valve sensor electrical connector (4) to the IAC valve (1).
13. Install the TP sensor electrical connector (3) to the TP sensor (2).




14. Install the IAT sensor electrical connector (2) to the IAT sensor (1).
15. Install the MAF sensor electrical connector (3) from the MAF sensor (4).




16. Install the air intake duct (3).
17. Refill the radiator to replace the lost coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (3.5L V6 LX5).




18. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
