Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

ACCELERATOR CONTROLS PEDAL REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the left instrument panel insulator.
2. Remove the accelerator controls cable (5) from accelerator controls pedal (1 ).
3. Remove the bolts (3) and studs (2) holding the accelerator controls pedal to the bulk head (4).
4. Remove the accelerator controls pedal.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely without binding between a full closed and a wide open throttle.

1. Install the accelerator controls pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
2. Install the accelerator controls pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
The accelerator controls pedal assembly bolts and studs to 3.0 N.m (27 lb in)

3. Connect the accelerator controls cable (5) to the accelerator controls pedal (1).
4. Install the left instrument panel insulator.
5. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator controls pedal.
