Engine Compartment Fan: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURECaution: Refer to Fan, Hand, and Tool Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
2. Remove the Engine mount strut.
3. Disconnect the cooling fan wiring harness from the engine wiring harness.
4. Remove the cooling fan shroud bolts.
5. Remove the cooling fan shroud with the electric cooling fan motors and cooling fan.
6. Disconnect the cooling fan wiring harness from each cooling fan motor.
7. Remove the cooling fan heat shield.
8. Remove the cooling fan blade nut(s).
9. Remove the cooling fan blade(s).
10. Inspect the cooling fan(s) for the following conditions:
10.1. Bent or cracked cooling fan blades
10.2. Smoothness of the cooling fan blade mating surfaces
10.3. Remove burrs or other imperfections as necessary
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the cooling fan blade(s).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the cooling fan blade nut(s).
- Tighten the cooling fan nut to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.)
3. Connect the cooling fan heat shield.
4. Connect the cooling fan wiring harness to each cooling fan motor.
5. Install the cooling fan shroud with the electric cooling fan motors and cooling fans.
6. Connect the cooling fan shroud bolts.
- Tighten the cooling fan shroud bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.)
7. Connect the cooling fan wiring harness to the engine wiring harness.
8. Install the engine mount strut bracket to the upper radiator support.
