Brake Pedal Bracket Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the instrument panel trim pad.
2. Remove the brake pedal push rod retaining clip (3) at the brake pedal.
3. Remove the brake pedal nut (10) and bolt (9).
4. Remove the brake pedal (5).
5. Remove the stoplamp switch.
6. Remove the cruise control switch.
7. Remove the wiring harness clips from the bracket.
8. Remove the brake pedal bracket upper mounting nuts to cross car beam.
9. Remove the brake pedal bracket upper mounting bolts to cross car beam.
10. Remove the brake pedal bracket lower mounting bolts to reinforcement bracket.
11. Remove the brake pedal bracket.
12. Inspect all components for wear. Repair or replace the worn parts as necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the brake pedal bracket (1).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the brake pedal bracket lower mounting bolts to the reinforcement bracket.
- Tighten the reinforcement bracket bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the brake pedal upper mounting bolts to the cross car beam.
- Tighten the upper mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the brake pedal bracket upper mounting nuts to the cross car beam.
- Tighten the brake pedal bracket upper mounting nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the wiring harness clips to the bracket.
6. Install the cruise control switch (if equipped).
7. Install the stoplamp switch.
8. Install the brake pedal.
9. Install the brake pedal mounting nut and the bolt.
- Tighten the brake pedal mounting nut and bolt to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the brake pedal push rod retaining clip at the brake pedal.
11. Install the instrument panel trim pad.
12. Adjust the stoplamp switch.
