SIR Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble

DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

Notice: When the column is removed from the vehicle, actions such as a sharp blow on the end of the steering shaft or shift lever, leaning on the column assembly, or dropping the assembly could shear or loosen the plastic fasteners that maintain column rigidity.

1. Place J41352 onto a vise.
2. Place the steering column onto J41352 when you remove the steering column from the vehicle.





3. Remove the flanged prevailing torque nut (2).
4. Remove the retaining ring (1).





5. Remove the SIR coil assembly (2).
6. Remove the wave washer (1).
7. Cut the tie strap (3) which secures the coil download wires to the tilt housing.
8. Set aside the black wire spacer (4).
