Seat Belt Retractor: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
2. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
3. Remove the front seat retractor side belt bolt (5).
4. Remove the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster cover (3).
5. Remove the front seat retractor side belt bolt.
6. Remove the front seat shoulder belt guide track cover (2).
7. Remove the front seat shoulder belt guide track (1).
8. Remove the front seat retractor side belt bolt (6).
9. Remove the front seat shoulder belt guide (7).
10. Lift and pull retractor in order to disengage.
11. Remove the front seat retractor side belt (4).

Installation Procedure

Important: Remove any twists in the seat belt webbing before final assembly.

1. Install the front seat retractor side belt.
2. Insert the top of the retractor into the mounting slots and pull down.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the front seat retractor side belt bolt (6).

Tighten
Tighten the front seat retractor side belt bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

4. Install the front seat shoulder belt guide.
5. Install the front seat shoulder belt guide track (1).
6. Install the front seat shoulder belt guide track cover (2).
7. Install the front seat retractor side belt bolt.
8. Inspect the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster cover for broken tabs. Replace the cover if the tabs are broken.
9. Install the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster cover (3).
10. Install the front seat retractor side belt bolt (5).

Tighten
Tighten the front seat retractor side belt bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

11. Install the center pillar lower trim panel.
12. Install the center pillar upper trim panel.
13. Inspect the seat belt assembly for proper operation.
