Coolant Pipe Replacement - Intake

Removal Procedure

Notice: Refer to Use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL Coolant in Service Precautions.

1. Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Service and Repair.
2. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.





3. Remove the coolant inlet pipe bolts through the exhaust manifold.
4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
6. Remove the splash shield.
7. Remove the bolts from the transaxle-to-engine block brace. Remove the brace.
8. Remove the radiator hose from the coolant inlet pipe to oil pan bolt.
9. Remove the cover to the coolant inlet pipe bolt.
10. Remove the coolant inlet pipe and the seal.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the seal and the inlet pipe.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Connect the cover to the inlet pipe bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.).

3. Install the inlet pipe to the oil pan bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).

4. Connect the radiator hose to the inlet pipe.
5. Install the transaxle-to-engine block brace with a bolt.
6. Install the splash shield.
7. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Install the coolant inlet pipe bolt through the exhaust manifold.
^ Tighten the bolt to 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.).

10. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Service and Repair.
