Hose/Line HVAC: Service and Repair

COMPRESSOR HOSE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT






REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39500-B R-134a Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System

1. Use the J 39500-B in order to recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
2. Remove the discharge tube from the following components:
^ The condenser
^ The switch connection on the discharge tube
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly.
5. Remove the right side splash shield.
6. Partially remove the splash shield from the fascia.
7. Disconnect the accumulator to compressor suction hose at the accumulator.
8. Remove the block fitting at the rear head of the compressor (2).

IMPORTANT: Remove and discard all of the following components:
^ Used O-ring seals
^ Used sealing washers (3)

9. Remove the compressor hose assembly (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the compressor/condenser hose assembly (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the block fitting at the rear head of the compressor (2).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

3. Connect the accumulator to compressor suction hose at the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Install the splash shield to the fascia.
5. Install the right side splash shield.
6. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Install the discharge tube to the following components:
^ The condenser
^ The switch connection on the discharge tube

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

9. Use the J 39500-B in order to evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
10. Inspect the system operation.
11. Perform the leak test. Refer to Leak Testing. Testing and Inspection
