Brake Pipe Replacement - Front
REMOVAL PROCEDURECaution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the bolts from the battery tray.
3. Remove the battery tray.
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
5. Disconnect the brake pipe (1) from the brake modulator assembly (2).
6. Raise the vehicle.
7. Remove the tire and wheel.
8. Disconnect the brake pipe (1) from the brake hose.
9. Disconnect the retainers as needed.
10. Remove the brake pipe (1).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Caution: Always use double-walled steel brake pipe when replacing brake pipes. The use of any other pipe is not recommended and may cause brake system failure. Carefully route and retain replacement brake pipes. Always use the correct fasteners and in the original location for replacement brake pipes. Failure to properly route and retain brake pipes may cause damage to the brake pipes and brake system failure.
1. Fabricate a new brake pipe.
2. Install the brake pipe (1) to the vehicle.
3. Loosely install the brake pipe nut to the brake hose.
4. Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Loosely install the brake pipe nut to the brake modulator assembly (2).
^ Tighten the brake pipe nuts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.)
6. Install the brake pipe retainers.
7. Install the tire and wheel.
8. Install the battery tray.
9. Install the battery tray bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
10. Install the battery.
11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
12. Bleed the brake system.
