Brake Pipe Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECaution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the battery tray.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. Disconnect the brake pipes (1) from the brake modulator assembly (2).
5. Remove the underhood junction block and position aside.
6. Disconnect the brake pipes (2) from the master cylinder (1).
7. Disconnect the retainers as needed.
8. Remove the brake pipes from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Caution: Always use double-walled steel brake pipe when replacing brake pipes. The use of any other pipe is not recommended and may cause brake system failure. Carefully route and retain replacement brake pipes. Always use the correct fasteners and in the original location for replacement brake pipes. Failure to property route and retain brake pipes may cause damage to the brake pipes and brake system failure.
1. Fabricate a new brake pipe.
2. Install the brake pipes (2) to the vehicle.
3. Loosely install the brake pipe nut to the master cylinder (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Loosely install the brake pipe nut to the brake modulator assembly (2).
^ Tighten the brake pipe nuts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the underhood junction block.
6. Install the battery tray.
7. Install the battery.
8. Install the air cleaner assembly.
9. Bleed the brake system.
