Brake Modulator Assembly Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Caution: To help avoid personal injury, due to a retained load on the brake modulator, the Gear Tension Relief function of the scan tool must be performed prior to removal of the ABS brake modulator assembly.





1. Use the Scan Tool in order to perform the Gear Tension Relief Sequence.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Remove the Battery tray.
4. Remove the radiator inlet hose.
5. Disconnect the two brake solenoid valve electrical connectors (2).
6. Disconnect the Brake Motor Pack electrical connector (1).





7. Disconnect the wheel cylinder to brake modulator brake pipes from the brake modulator.





8. Disconnect the master cylinder to proportioning valve brake pipes from the proportioning valve.





9. Remove the brake modulator assembly to bracket mounting nut.
10. Remove the brake modulator assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the brake modulator assembly to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Caution is and Notices.

2. Install the brake modulator assembly to bracket mounting nut.
^ Tighten the brake modulator bracket mounting nut to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).





3. Connect the master cylinder to proportioning vale brake pipes to the proportioning valve.
^ Tighten the tube nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





4. Connect the wheel cylinder to brake modulator brake pipes to the brake modulator.
^ Tighten the tube nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





5. Connect the Brake Motor Pack electrical connector (1).
6. Connect the two brake solenoid valve electrical connectors (2).
7. Install the radiator inlet hose.
8. Install the Battery tray.
9. Install the Battery to Vehicle.
10. Bleed the brake system.
11. Perform the ABS Diagnostic System Check.
