Water Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Remove the bolts from the A/C compressor splash shield.
3. Remove the splash shield.
4. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
5. Remove the supercharger drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (VIN 1) in Engine.
6. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (VIN 1) in Engine.
7. Remove the coil pack. Position the coil pack out of the way.
8. Remove the supercharger belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (VIN 1) in Engine.
9. Remove the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement in Engine.
10. Remove the power steering pump.
11. Remove the engine mount bracket.
12. Remove the idler pulley.
13. Remove the water pump pulley.
14. Remove the water pump.
15. Clean all of the gasket mating surfaces.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Using a new gasket, install the water pump on the engine.
Install the water pump bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts (1) to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the bolts (2) to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the water pump pulley.
^ Tighten the bolts to 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.).
3. Install the idler pulley.
4. Install the engine mount bracket.
5. Install the power steering pump.
6. Install the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement in Engine.
7. Install the supercharger belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (VIN 1) in Engine.
8. Install the coil pack.
9. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (VIN 1) in Engine.
10. Install the supercharger drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (VIN 1) in Engine.
11. Refill the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
12. Install the A/C compressor splash shield.
13. Connect the negative battery cable.
14. Check for coolant leaks.
