SIR Coil Assembly

DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
^ Tools Required:
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin

1. Remove the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to STEERING COLUMN SHROUDS.





2. Remove one wire harness straps (2) from the wire harness assembly. Remove one wire harness strap (2) from the upper tilt head assembly (1).





3. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) out of the wire harness strap (2).





4. Remove the retaining ring (3).
5. Remove the SIR coil assembly (2).
6. Remove the wave washer (1).

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
^ Tools Required:
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin





1. To install the SIR coil assembly: Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position.





2. Install the wave washer (1) to the race and upper shaft assembly (2).





3. Align the SIR coil assembly (4) with the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam assembly (1). The new SIR coil assembly will be precentered. Pull the tab and remove.

Important: The retaining ring (3) must seat securely on the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).

4. Install the retaining ring (3).
5. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).
6. Install one wire harness strap (2) into the steering column tilt head assembly (1). Install one wire harness strap (2) onto the wire harness assembly.
7. Install the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to STEERING COLUMN SHROUDS.
