Repair Instructions

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the drive belt from the pulley. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT in ENGINE.
2. Remove the power steering (PS) inlet hose from the pump. Refer to POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE REPLACEMENT.





3. Remove the PS outlet pipe from the PS pump.





4. Remove the PS pump mounting bolts from the pump.
5. Remove the PS pump and reservoir.
6. Remove the reservoir from the pump.
7. Transfer the PS pulley as needed. Refer to POWER STEERING PULLEY REPLACEMENT.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the PS reservoir to the pump. Refer to POWER STEERING PULLEY REPLACEMENT.
2. Install the PS pump and reservoir to the engine block.

NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the PS pump mounting bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the PS pump mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the PS return hose to the PS pump. Refer to POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE REPLACEMENT.
5. Install the PS outlet pipe to the pump. Refer to POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE REPLACEMENT.
6. Install the drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT in ENGINE.
7. Fill the PS system with fluid. Refer to CHECKING AND ADDING POWER STEERING FLUID.
8. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM.
9. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR AND PUMP LEAKS.
