Special Conditions For Bleeding

FLUID






1. Ensure that the fluid is completely free of bubbles. Periodic bubbles may indicate a loose connection or a leaky O-ring seal in the return hose or the pressure hose.
2. Ensure that the fluid does not have any of the following characteristics:
^ Milky
^ Opaque
^ Light tan color
3. Perform the following steps:
3.1. Switch the ignition OFF.
3.2. Wait 2 minutes.
3.3. Inspect the hose connections again.
3.4. Verify that the noise is eliminated.

NOISE






1. Inspect for pump whine or groaning noises.
2. With the engine running, inspect the hoses for any contact with the frame body or the engine.
3. Use one of the following methods in order to cool down the fluid and repressurize the system:
3.1. The normal cool down:
3.1.1. Switch the engine OFF.
3.1.2. Wait for the system to cool.
3.1.3. Install the reservoir cap.
3.2. The partial fluid replacement:
3.2.1. Switch the engine OFF.
3.2.2. Use a suction device in order to remove the fluid from the reservoir.
3.2.3. Refill with cool, clean fluid.
3.2.4. Install the reservoir cap.
4. Complete the following steps after either method of cooling:
^ Start the engine
^ Allow the engine to come up to operating temperature.
^ If the noise persists, replace the power steering pump.
^ Repeat the bleeding procedure after you replace the pump.
