File In Section: 07 - Transmission/Transaxle

Bulletin No.: 99-O7-3O-008

Date: May, 1999

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Buzz Type Noise On Decel (Reprogram PCM)

Models:
1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
with 3.8 L V6 Engine (VIN K - RPO L36)
and Hydra-Matic 4T65-E Transaxle (RPO M15)

Condition

Some owners may comment about a buzz type noise on decel at approximately 17-21 mph (27-34 kph) during the coast-down shift.

Cause

Condition may be due to high line pressure on decel causing pressure regulator valve instability.

Correction

Check cooler line routing for ground-out against body/frame. If no ground-out condition exists, reprogram the Powertrain Control Module with the appropriate calibration listed below.

Parts information

The calibrations listed are electronic calibrations and are NOT available from GMSPO. Calibrations will be available from Techline starting February 1999, on the 1999 Disk 5 CD ROM.
