Fuel Tank Draining Procedure
WARNING: Do not drain the fuel into an open container. Never store the fuel in an open container due to the possibility of a fire or an explosion.
Notice: Do not drain fuel through the fuel tank filler pipe in order to prevent damage the fuel tank filler pipe check-ball.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Release Procedure.
3. Remove the fuel sender assembly.
4. Use a hand operated fuel pump device in order to drain the fuel through the fuel sender access panel.
5. Install the fuel sender assembly.
6. Add fuel and tighten the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
8. Inspect for leaks.
8.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
8.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
8.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
8.4. Check for fuel leaks.
9. Reconnect the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
