Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair


Filler Tube Replacement

Removal Procedure

Notice
: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Release Procedure.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Drain fuel from vehicle.




5. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.




6. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.
7. Remove the fuel filler hose.
8. Disconnect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.




9. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching screw (1) from the under body.




10. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching screws (3) from the fuel filler pipe access panel.




11. Remove the fuel filler pipe.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the fuel filler pipe.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.





2. Install the fuel filler pipe attaching screws (3) to the fuel filler pipe access panel.
- Tighten The fuel filler pipe attaching screws to 10 N.m (88 lb in).




3. Install the fuel filler pipe attaching screw (1) to the under body.
- Tighten the fuel filler pipe attaching screw to 10 N.m (88 lb in).




4. Connect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.
5. Install the fuel filler hose.




6. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.




7. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.




8. Inspect and make sure filler hose (4) is fully seated on fuel tank port, and fuel filler pipe (2).
9. Make sure clamp (1) is properly located on tank port between the feed (5) and tank (3).
- Tighten the fuel tank filler hose clamps to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
10. Lower the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

11. Connect the negative battery cable.
12. Inspect for leaks.
12.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
12.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
12.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
12.4. Check for fuel leaks.
13. Reinstall the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
