Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (Front Wheels)
REMOVAL PROCEDUREIMPORTANT: The front wheel speed sensors and rings are integral with the hub and bearing assemblies.
If a speed sensor or a ring needs replacement, you must replace the entire hub and bearing assembly. Do not try to service the harness pigtail individually because the harness pigtail is part of the sensor.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Wheel Removal in Suspension.
3. Remove the front wheel speed sensor electrical connector (2).
4. Remove the hub and bearing assembly (2). Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Bearing Replacement in Front Suspension for removing hub/bearing/speed sensor assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the hub and bearing assembly (2) to the vehicle. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Bearing Replacement in Front Suspension for installing hub/bearing/speed sensor assembly.
2. Install the front wheel speed sensor electrical connector (2).
3. Install the wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Wheel Installation in Suspension.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position with the engine off.
6. Perform the Diagnostic System Check. Refer to "ABS Diagnostic System Check" in Antilock Brake System.
