Brake Pipe Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Always use double walled steel brake pipe when replacing brake pipes. The use of any other pipe is not recommended and may cause brake system failure. Carefully route and retain replacement brake pipes. Always use the correct fasteners and the original location for replacement brake pipes. Failure to properly route and retain brake pipes may cause damage to the brake pipes and cause brake system failure.
1. Remove the left front brake pipe (2) from the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting in order to remove the brake pipe from the brake hose.
2. Remove the right front brake pipe (3) from the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting in order to remove the brake pipe from the brake hose.
3. Remove the four brake pipes from the Brake Modulator/Master Cylinder Assembly.
4. Remove the brake pipes from the retaining clips.
5. Remove the left rear brake pipe from the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting in order to remove the brake pipe front the brake hose.
6. Remove the right rear brake pipe (3) from the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting in order to remove the brake pipe from the brake hose.
7. Remove the brake pipes from the retaining clips (2) (1).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the brake pipes into the retaining clips (2) (1).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the right rear brake pipe (3) to the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting.
- Tighten the brake pipe tube nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the left rear brake pipe to the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting.
- Tighten the brake pipe tube nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the brake pipes into the retaining clips.
5. Install the four brake pipes into the Brake Modulator/Master Cylinder Assembly.
- Tighten the modulator tube nuts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the right front brake pipe (3) to the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting.
- Tighten the brake pipe tube nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the left front brake pipe (2) to the brake hose. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting.
- Tighten the brake pipe tube nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
8. Bleed the brakes. Refer to "Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding".
