Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the brake caliper (3). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear.
2. Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper bracket.
3. Remove the brake pad retainers from the brake caliper bracket (1).





4. Remove the brake caliper bracket bolts (2). Use a wire brush in order to clean off any thread locking compound from the threads.
5. Remove the brake caliper bracket (1).
6. Remove the brake caliper bolt boots (3) from the brake caliper bracket (1).
7. Remove the brake caliper bolt bushings (4) from the brake caliper bracket (1).
8. Inspect and replace the brake caliper bracket if cracks or deformation damage exists.
9. Use a wire brush in order to clean away any rust and debris from the brake caliper bracket where the brake pads contact the brake caliper bracket.
10. Use a wire brush in order to clean away any rust and debris from the brake pads where the brake pads contact the brake caliper bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the brake caliper bracket (1).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Apply a few drops of LOCTITE GM P/N 12345382 (or equivalent) to the threads of the brake caliper bracket bolts (2) before installation.





2. Install the caliper bracket bolts.
- Tighten the brake caliper bracket bolts to 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the brake pad retainers to the brake caliper bracket.
4. Apply a thin coat of silicone grease (GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent) to the brake pad retainers where the brake pads contact the brake pad retainers.
5. Lubricate the brake caliper bolt bushings (4) with silicone grease (GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent).
6. Install the brake caliper bolt bushings (4) to the brake caliper bracket.
7. Lubricate the brake caliper bolt boots (3) with silicone grease (GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent).
8. Install the brake caliper bolt boots to the brake caliper bracket.
9. Install the brake caliper;. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement- Rear.
