Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Front

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the brake caliper (2). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Front.
2. Remove the brake pads (5) from the brake caliper bracket (3).
3. Remove the brake pad retainers (4) from the brake caliper bracket.





4. Remove and DISCARD the brake caliper bracket bolts (2).
5. Remove the brake caliper bracket (1).
6. Remove the brake caliper bolt boots (3) from the brake caliper bracket (1).
7. Inspect and replace the brake caliper bracket if cracks or deformation damage exists.
8. Use a wire brush in order to clean away any rust and debris from the brake caliper bracket where the brake pad retainers contact the brake caliper bracket.
9. Use a wire brush in order to clean away any rust and debris from the brake pads where the brake pads contact the brake pad retainers.
10. Clean away any rust and debris from the brake pad retainers.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the brake caliper bracket (1).

CAUTION:
- These fasteners MUST be replaced with new fasteners anytime they become loose or are removed. Failure to replace these fasteners after they become loose or are removed may cause loss of vehicle control and personal injury.
- These fasteners MUST be replaced with new fasteners anytime they become loose or are removed. Failure to replace these fasteners after they become loose or are removed may cause loss of vehicle control and personal injury.


2. Install the NEW brake caliper bracket bolts.
- Tighten the NEW brake caliper bracket bolts to 185 Nm (137 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the brake pad retainers (4) to the brake caliper bracket (3).
4. Apply a thin coat of silicone grease (GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent) to the brake pad retainers (4) where the brake pads (5) contact the brake pad retainers.
5. Lubricate the brake caliper bolt boots with silicone grease (GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent).
6. Install the brake caliper bolt boots to the brake caliper bracket.
7. Install the brake pads (5) to the brake caliper bracket.
8. Install the brake caliper (2). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Front.
