REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Assist Rod Replacement: Hood - Removal Procedure:

1. Open and suitably support the hood.
2. Using a small flat-bladed tool, lift up the retainer clips on the hood strut support.

IMPORTANT: Pressure to remove or attach the hood strut supports ends must be placed at end of the hood strut that is being removed or attached. Do not apply pressure to mid section of the hood strut when removing or installing. This will bend and damage the hood strut.

Assist Rod Replacement: Hood - Removal Procedure:

3. Unsnap the upper end of hood strut support from the ball joint on the hood.
4. Unsnap the lower end of the hood strut support from the ball joint on the lower hood hinge.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Pressure to remove or attach the hood strut supports ends must be placed at end of the hood strut that is being removed or attached. Do not apply pressure to mid section of the hood strut when removing or installing. This will bend and damage the hood strut.

Assist Rod Replacement: Hood - Installation Procedure:

1. Snap the upper end of hood strut support to the ball joint on hood.
2. Snap the lower end of the hood strut support to ball joint on the lower hood hinge
3. Remove the support from the hood.
4. Close the hood.
