Cylinder Head Assemble

^ Tools Required
- J 38606 Valve Spring Compressor

IMPORTANT: Use oversize valve stem seals if you install oversize valves.





1. Lightly lap the reconditioned valves into the valve seat.
2. Apply sealer GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent to the cylinder head core plugs.
3. Install the cylinder head core plugs.
4. Install the valve stem oil seals.
5. Install the valves.
6. Install the valve springs.
7. Install the valve spring caps.





8. Compress the valve springs. Use the J 38606.
9. Install the valve spring cap keys. Hold the valves in place with grease, if necessary.
10. Release the valve springs.
11. Make sure valve locks are seated.

NOTICE: In order to avoid damage, install the spark plugs after the cylinder head has been installed on the engine.





12. Install the fuel line bracket.
13. Install the fuel line bracket bolt and stud.
^ Tighten the fuel line bracket bolt and stud to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
