Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the battery tray.
3. Drain the cooling system.
4. Partially remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator.
5. Remove the solenoid and motorpack electrical connections.
6. Remove the brake pipes (3, 4) from the modulator assembly.
7. Remove the modulator from the bracket mounting nut.
8. Remove the hydraulic modulator assembly. (Slide out of the slot toward the rear of the vehicle).

IMPORTANT: The gasket between the proportioning valve and the hydraulic modulator assembly must be replaced whenever these components are separated.

9. Remove the brake proportioning valve (5).


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the brake proportioning valve (5).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the hydraulic modulator assembly (5). (Slide in the slot toward the front of the vehicle).
- Tighten bolts to 12 Nm (106 in. lbs.).

3. Install the modulator to the bracket mounting nut.
4. Install the brake pipes (3, 4) to the modulator assembly.
5. Install the solenoid and motorpack electrical connections.
6. Install the upper radiator hose to the radiator.
7. Fill the cooling system.
8. Install the battery tray.
9. Install the battery.
