Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart (Part 2 Of 2):

Wiring Schematic:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
This is a trouble code (both current and history) that indicates the Body Function Controller (BFC) has sensed a short to Battery condition on the Instrument Cluster Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) data line to the Body Function Controller (BFC).

CONDITIONS FOR SELLING THE DTC
All of the following conditions must be met:
^ Ignition 0 is active.
^ All 3 data bytes received from the Instrument Cluster are $FF for 64 transmission cycles.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
Stores DTC U2003 in the Body Function Controller (BFC) memory.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The Body Function Controller (BFC) goes to sleep and reinitializes with the fault cleared.
^ All Body Function Controller (BFC) history codes will be cleared after 100 ignition cycles (from OFF to RUN) with no current codes active during the 100 ignition cycles.
^ Use the scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ With the Ignition Switch in the RUN position check for voltage transitions on the SPI Data Line.
^ When the diagnostics direct you to take electrical measurements at the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks, refer to Power Distribution, in Electrical Diagnosis, for terminal assignments of the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks. Diagrams

^ If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Try performing the tests shown while wiggling wiring and connectors, this can often cause the malfunction to appear.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to the numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step determines if there is a short to Battery in circuit 1322 between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Instrument Cluster.
4. This step determines if there is a bad connection at either the Instrument Cluster or the Body Function Controller (BFC).
