Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart (Part 2 Of 2):

Wiring Schematic:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
This is the fault code (current and history) that is set when the Body Function Controller (BFC) detects a short to ground at the Body Function Controller (BFC) fuel sensor input.

CONDITIONS FOR SELLING THE DTC
All of the following conditions must be met:
^ Ignition 0 is active
^ The voltage ratio of fuel level voltage to Battery voltage is less than 1 % for 2.55 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
Fuel gage displays empty.
^ Low Fuel Indicator illuminates.
^ Stores DTC P0462 in the Body Function Controller (BFC) memory.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The Body Function Controller (BFC) goes to sleep and reinitializes with the fault cleared.
^ All Body Function Controller (BFC) history codes will be cleared after 100 ignition cycles (from OFF to RUN) with no current codes active during the 100 ignition cycles.
^ Use the scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ When the diagnostics direct you to take electrical measurements at the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks, refer to Power Distribution, in Electrical Diagnosis, for terminal assignments of the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks. Diagrams

^ If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Try performing the tests shown while wiggling wiring and connectors, this can often cause the malfunction to appear.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to the numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step determines if the Body Function Controller (BFC) is reading the Fuel Level Sensor.
3. This step determines if there is a short to ground in circuit 470 between the Fuel Level Sensor and the Body Function Controller (BFC).
5. This step determines if there is a short to ground in circuit 470 within the LH IP Wiring Harness Junction Block.
6. This step determines if there is an open in circuit 470 between the LH IP Wiring Harness Junction Block and the Body Function Controller (BFC).
