Starter Motor Replacement (2)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
3. Remove the starter motor-to-engine bolts.
4. Lower the starter.
5. Remove the electrical leads, while supporting the starter motor.
6. Remove the starter

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the starter.
2. Install the electrical leads, while supporting the starter motor.

Tighten
Tighten to 9.5 N.m (84 lb in).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Raise the starter into mounting position.
4. Install the starter motor-to-engine bolts.

Tighten
Tighten both bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft)

5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
