Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

EVAP Canister Installation:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

NOTE: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.

1. Remove the RH engine splash shield.
2. Disconnect the hoses from the canister (2).
3. Remove the EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt (1).
4. Remove the EVAP canister (2) and retainer (3).

NOTE: The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which may have caused this parts failure. Check the EVAP canister for carbon before returning the vehicle to service.

5. Remove the EVAP canister retainer (3) from the canister (2).

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Snap the EVAP canister retainer (3) onto the EVAP canister (2).

NOTE: When installing the [1][2]EVAP retainer to the EVAP canister, the attaching bolt must be towards the front of the vehicle and the hose ports must be towards the rear of the vehicle.

2. Install the rearward end of the EVAP canister retainer (3) into the slot in the PCM bracket (rotate the EVAP canister to insert the top of the EVAP canister under the tab on the PCM bracket).
3. Install the EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt (1). Tighten EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt to 10 Nm (88 lb. in.).
4. Connect the hoses (2) to the canister.
5. Install the RH engine splash shield (wheel house panel).
