Radiator Hose: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Drain and recover the coolant to a level below the hose being removed. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.

NOTICE: When adding coolant, use DEX-COOL (R) coolant. If silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner-at 50,000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

3. Remove the radiator inlet hose (2) and the clamps (1) from the radiator and the coolant outlet.
4. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose (3). and the clamps (1) from the following places:
- The radiator
- The water pump
- The radiator surge tank

5. Remove the radiator outlet hose.

- The radiator
- The water pump
- The radiator surge tank

2. Install the radiator inlet hose (2) and the clamps (1) to the radiator and the coolant outlet.

NOTICE: Make sure the reference marks on the hoses and the radiator are lined up. A twist on the hose would place strain on the radiator fitting which could cause the fitting to crack or break.

3. Connect the negative battery cable.
^ Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Refill the radiator with coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
