Backing Plate: Service and Repair

Drum Brake Components:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Brake drum and components.
3. Brake pipe from wheel cylinder.
4. Park brake cable from backing plate.
5. Hub and bearing bolts.
6. Backing plate.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Backing plate.
2. Hub and bearing with bolts.
3. Park brake cable to backing plate.
4. Brake pipe to wheel cylinder. Tighten brake pipe fitting (tube nut) to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. Brake drum and components.
6. Bleed brake hydraulic system. Service and Repair
7. Lower Vehicle. Inspect For proper brake operation.
