^ Tools Required:
- J 36226 Ball Joint Separator
- Or Equivalent
CAUTION: Use only the recommended tools for separating the ball joint from knuckle. Failure to use recommended tools may cause damage to the ball joint and seal.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support by frame allowing control arms to hang free.
2. Wheel and tire.
3. Stabilizer shaft to control arm bolt.
4. Cotter pin and loosen nut from ball stud.
CAUTION: Care must be taken not to overextend tri-pot joints. Over extension of the joint could result in separation of internal components which could go undetected and result in failure of the joint.
5. Using J 36226, ball joint from steering knuckle.
6. Control arm mounting bolts.
7. Control arm from frame.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Control arm to frame.
2. Bolts, washers and nuts.

4. Ball joint to knuckle.
^ Tighten:
- Stabilizer shah link assembly nut to 17 Nm (13 inch lbs.).
- Ball joint nut to 10 Nm (88 inch lbs.). Then tighten an additional 120° (2 flats on nut) during which a torque of 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.) must be obtained.
5. Cotter pin. To align slot, tighten nut up to one more flat.
6. Wheel and tire. Tighten wheel nuts to 140 Nm (100 inch lbs.).
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Check trim height.
