Water Pump: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the drive belt.





4. Water pump pulley bolts.
5. Remove the water pump.
6. Clean the gasket mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure





1. Using a new gasket, install the water pump on the engine.





2. Install water pump bolts.

Tighten
^ Tighten the bolts (1) 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
^ Tighten the bolts (2) 30 Nm (22 lb ft).





3. Install the water pump pully bolts.
4. Install the drive belt.
5. Fill the cooling system.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

7. Check for coolant leaks.
