Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Service and Repair
^ Tool Required
- J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller
- Or Equivalent
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Wheel and tire.
2. Cotter pin and slotted hex nut.
3. Using J 24319-B, separate adjustment link from knuckle.
CAUTION: When separating a linkage joint, do not try to disengage the joint by driving a wedge between the joint and the attached part. Seal damage may result.
4. Link retaining nut and link from control arm.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Link to control arm with retaining nut.
2. Link to knuckle. Position boot toward front of vehicle.
^ Tighten:
- Retaining nut to 85 Nm (63 lb ft).
- Slotted hex nut to 45 Nm (33 lb ft).
NOTE: After tightening slotted hex nut to specification, align slot in nut to cotter pin hole by tightening only. Do not loosen nut to install cotter pin.
3. Cotter pin.
4. Lubricate adjustment link joint.
5. Wheel and tire.
^ Tighten wheel nuts to 140 Nm (100 lb ft).
^ Check and set rear wheel alignment after installing adjustment link.
