File In Section: 10 - Body

Bulletin No.: 73-10-47

Date: February, 1997

Subject:

(Apply Grease to Check Link Arm)

Models:
1997 Chevrolet Malibu - Built prior to VIN Breakpoint V6111855
1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass - Built prior to VIN Breakpoint V6302593

Condition

Some owners may comment that high efforts are needed to open or close doors, particularly in cold weather

Cause

Condition may be due to the check link rubber bushing hardening in cold weather.

Correction

Using a brush, apply Loctite(R) Permatex Super Lube Synthetic Grease with Teflon*, Loctite(R) P/N 82328, to the top and bottom surface of the check link arm as far into door as possible. Cycle doors three to four times to work the lubricant into the roller area.
