Disabling the SIR System

(Figures 1 and 2)

Turn the steering wheel to the straight ahead position. Remove the key from the ignition switch.

Remove or Disconnect

1. The AIR BAG Fuse from the LH I/P Bussed Electrical Center (LH I/P BEC). Refer to Power Distribution, Cell 10 in Electrical Diagnosis of the Service Manual.

2. The Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and the yellow 2-way driver safing connector located in the LH I/P Bussed Electrical Center (LH I/P BEC).

3. The Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and the yellow 2-way passenger safing connector located in the RH I/P Bussed Electrical Center (RH I/P BEC).

Important:
With the AIR BAG Fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, the AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is a normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
