Wiper Control Module: Service and Repair

Washer Nozzle/Hose Assembly:




Lower Reveal Molding:




Air Inlet Panel,screws, And Underhood Lamp Switch (if Equipped):




Arm In Inner Wipe Position:




Wiper Drive System:




Motor Crank Arm:




Wiper Transmission Assembly:




Wiper, Drive System Module:





Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative battery cable from battery.
2. Wiper arm and blade assemblies.
3. Lower reveal molding screws. Then, lower hood and remove lower reveal molding.
4. Air inlet panel screws, underhood lamp switch (if equipped) and air inlet panel (Z) with hood raised.
Important
^ If wiper motor assembly can run, place in inner wipe position.
5. Two electrical connectors (AA) from wiper motor assembly (44), and washer hose (45) at firewal.
6. If wiper motor assembly is inoperative, rotate motor crank arm to inner wipe position. Engage upper jaw of channel lock pliers against top edge of crank arm and lower jaw against crank arm nut as pivot point. If successful, go to Step 8.

Important
^ If wiper motor crank arm cannot be moved into inner wipe position in Step 6, go to Step 7.

7. Three screws (46) from bell crank housing (BB), then lower transmission assembly (47) for module removal.
8. Six module mounting screws (48).
9. Wiper, drive system module from vehicle.

Install or Connect

NOTICE: Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Position wiper drive system module on shroud upper panel and install six mounting screws (48).
Important
^ Make sure body seal is in proper position on right-hand side of module.

Tighten
^ Screws (48) to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).

2. Electrical connectors (AA) to wiper motor assembly (44).
3. Washer hose (45) to hose connector at firewall.
4. Air inlet panel and attaching screws.
5. Underhood lamp switch (if equipped).
6. tower reveal molding and attaching screws.
7. Wiper arm and blade assemblies.
8. Negative battery cable.
