Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Bend tang on connector to allow cable removal.
3. Pull and hold cable towards the rear of the car to create slack in cable.
4. Cable from connector.
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Front parking brake cable from reel assembly on lever.

NOTE: Use caution when removing spring. This is to avoid hitting and knocking self adjusting spring loose.

7. Cable conduit fitting from lever assembly while depressing retaining tangs.
8. Electrical connector.
9. Nuts securing lever.
10. Lever.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Front parking brake cable to reel assembly and secure cable conduit fittings into lever assembly.
2. Parking brake lever and attaching nuts. Tighten Parking brake lever nuts to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
3. Electrical connector.
4. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
5. Cable to connector.
6. Fully apply and release foot brake 4 to 6 times to self adjust system.

NOTE: Parking brake adjustment is not necessary. This is a self adjusting system and damage may result from attempting to adjust or modify this system in any way. It may be necessary to adjust rear brakes to obtain the proper tension in the system.
