Test C Traction Off Lamp on With No DTC's Set

Test C: Traction Off Lamp Is On Continuously W/No Diagnostic Trouble Coles Set.:

"Traction Off" Indicator Lamp Is On Continuously And No DTC's Set:

CIRCUIT OPERATION
When the ignition is first turned to "RUN," the EBTCM goes through a self-test. During this test, the EBTCM grounds both the "ANTILOCK" and "TRACTION OFF" indicators for approximately 2 to 4 seconds. This acts as a bulb test for the indicators.

Traction Control Switch
Located in the center console trim plate, the switch allows the driver to select the traction control mode (on/off). When the traction control system is turned off, the "TRACTION OFF" indicator remains illuminated.

Transaxle Temperature
The EBTCM monitors transaxle temperature through information provided by the PCM. When the transaxle becomes hot, about 160°C (32O°F), the EBTCM disables the traction control system and turns on the "TRACTION OFF" indicator. This allows the brakes and transaxle to cool down. When the transaxle cools to 149°C (300°F) the EBTCM keeps the "TRACTION OFF" indicator on and the system disabled for an additional three to five minutes to allow for sufficient cooling.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
Possible Causes
^ Short to ground in CKT 1571 or 1572.
^ Faulty traction control switch.
^ Faulty EBTCM

Important
^ When the vehicle is equipped with traction control, any symptom which lights the "ANTILOCK" indicator also lights the "TRACTION OFF" indicator. Therefore, when both indicators are lit, follow "ANTILOCK" indicator diagnosis when no diagnostic trouble codes are set.
