Air Conditioning System - Failure/Refrigerant Loss

Air Conditioning System Failure - Refrigerant Loss (Replace Diagonal Braces and Upper Mounting Bolts)

MODEL:
1995 Oldsmobile Aurora - Built with VIN Breakpoints 4105076 through 4138650

CONDITION

Some owners may comment on the air conditioning system failing and refrigerant loss from A/C condenser.

CAUSE

The upper mounting bolts for the diagonal braces located in the radiator opening may rub against the A/C condenser causing a leak at the point of contact.

CORRECTION

If the leak point is determined to be the A/C condenser:

1. Remove the A/C condenser from the vehicle. Refer to Section 1B of the Service Manual.




2. Remove diagonal braces from radiator opening (see Figure 1).

3. Install new diagonal braces, P/N's 25647526 and 25647527, to vehicle and use a new bolt, P/N 11508462 or 25614745, at the upper attachment locations. Tighten bolts to 10.5 Nm (93 lb.in.).

4. Install a new A/C condenser to vehicle. Refer to Section 1B of the Service Manual.
