Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Relieve fuel pressure.
2. Remove fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair
3. Remove plastic engine cover and air intake duct.
4. Disconnect manifold vacuum source, then drain cooling system.
5. Disconnect righthand side spark plug wires and position aside.
6. Remove fuel rail, then exhaust manifold heat shield.
7. Disconnect upper radiator and bypass hoses from coolant outlet.
8. Disconnect electrical connectors from the following:
a. Throttle position sensor.
b. Idle air control valve.
c. Fuel injectors.
d. MAP sensor.
9. Remove EGR outlet pipe.
10. Remove throttle and cruise control cables.
11. Remove throttle bracket with power steering reservoir and set aside.
12. Remove inner accessory drive belt, then disconnect heater hose from intake.
13. Using standard double nut procedure, remove tensioner bracket to supercharger retaining stud.
14. Remove intake manifold attaching bolts, then the manifold.
15. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Clean cylinder block, heads and intake manifold sealing surface of all oil using a suitable solvent.
b. Remove adhesive compound from intake manifold bolts and bolt holes.
c. Apply thread lock compound part No. 12345493, or equivalent, to intake manifold bolt threads prior to installation.
d. Tighten intake manifold bolts in two steps to specifications in sequence.
