I/P DEFROSTER GRILLE WARPING AND/OR RATTLING
(REPLACE DEFROSTER GRILLE)
MODELS:
1994 OLDSMOBILE EIGHTY EIGHT AND NINETY EIGHT
CONDITION:
Some owners may comment on the edge of the defroster grille being visible from the passenger compartment (warped) and/or possible rattling from the grille.
CAUSE:
The material used to produce the defroster grille may warp at high temperatures. In addition, the defroster grille retaining tabs may break and cause a rattle condition.
CORRECTION:
Replace the defroster grille with new part (see P/N list). The new grille will come equipped with three dual-lock fasteners. The I/P trim pad will need to be altered (see Figure 1). Using a razor blade, remove the skin and foam (see Figure 1). Install dual-lock clip attachments, P/N 16751178. Install new defroster grille.
