Fuel Rail: Service and Repair

Fuel Rail Assembly Removal:

Remove or Disconnect:
1. Relieve fuel system pressure
2. Clean fuel rail assembly and connections
3. Disconnect fuel supply and return lines from the fuel rail tubes by squeezing tabs and pulling the lines off
4. Remove vacuum line from the pressure regulator
5. Disconnect injector electrical connectors
6. Remove fuel rail hold down bolts
7. Remove fuel rail with equal force on both sides of the rail

Fuel Rail Assembly:

CAUTION: The upper and lower O-rings are different colors (black and brown), be sure to install the black O-rings in the upper position and the brown ones in the lower position on the injector. The O-rings are the same size but are made of different materials.

Install or Connect:
1. Lightly oil injector O-rings with clean motor oil
2. Place rail assembly on manifold and seat injectors by hand
3. Tighten hold down bolts to 12 N-m (8 lb.ft.)
4. Connect fuel supply and return lines by pushing lines onto the fuel rail tubes
5. Connect fuel injector electrical connectors
6. Connect vacuum line to pressure regulator
