CASE SIDE COVER AND GASKETS

Case Side Cover, Pump And Valve Body:

TOOLS REQUIRED:
^ J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture
^ J 36462 Engine Support Adapter Leg

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Air cleaner and resonator.
2. Install J 28467-A, and J 36462.
3. Torque struts at engine mounts.
4. Shift control cable from transaxle.
5. Shift control cable bracket and position aside.
6. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
7. Left front tire and wheel.
8. Left lower ball joint.
9. Left inner fender splash shield.

CAUTION: Failure to disconnect the intermediate shalt from the rack and pinion stub shaft can result In damage to the steering gear and/or Intermediate shaft. This damage may cause loss of steering control which could result in personal injury.

10. Pinch bolt at intermediate steering shaft.
11. Exhaust pipe from manifold.
12. Support right and left sides of frame with jackstands.
13. Transaxle mount and mount support.
14. Left frame to body bolts, and adjust jack stand to lower left side of frame.
15. Right frame to body bolts.
16. Jack stands.
17. Steering shaft from steering gear stub shaft.
18. Left drive axle.
19. Position drain pan under transaxle.
20. Case side cover pan and gasket.
21. Transaxle lines.

CLEAN
^ Case and side cover gasket surfaces.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Transaxle lines.
2. Case side cover pan and gasket.
3. Case side cover bolts/screws and channel plate flange nuts.
4. Left drive axle.
5. Steering shaft to steering gear stub shaft.
6. Jackstands.
7. Raise left side of frame and install four new frame-to-body bolts.
8. Transaxle mounts and brackets.

TIGHTEN
^ Transaxle mount to support nuts/bolts to 48 Nm (35 lb. ft.).
^ Mount to bracket nuts to 30 Nm (22 lb. ft.).
^ Bracket to transaxle front bolt to 48 Nm (35 lb. ft.).
^ New frame to body bolts to 140 Nm (103 lb. ft.).

9. Remove jackstands.
10. Exhaust pipe to manifold.

CAUTION: When installing the intermediate shaft make sure the shaft is seated prior to pinch bolt installation. If the pinch bolt is inserted into the coupling before shaft installation, the two mating shafts may disengage.

11. Pinch bolt at intermediate steering shaft.
12. Left inner fender splash shield.
13. Left lower ball joint.
14. Left front tire and wheel.
15. Lower vehicle.
16. Shift control cable bracket.
17. Shift control cable to transaxle.
18. Torque struts at engine mounts.
19. Remove J 8467-A and J 36462.
20. Air cleaner and resonator.

ADJUST
^ Fluid level.

INSPECT
^ For proper completion of repairs.
^ For proper fluid level.
^ For fluid leaks.
